HP SkyRoom Technology Transports Richard Branson to Global Environmental Summit in Seoul, South Korea

In a presentation to the Business for Environment Global Summit (B4E), Sir Richard Branson, founder and president of the Virgin Group, addressed business and government leaders via HP SkyRoom video conferencing and collaboration technology.

As an international conference focused on business-driven action for the environment, B4E is an ideal showcase for the use of solutions like HP SkyRoom that are less carbon-intensive and demonstrate more sustainable ways to live, work and connect.

Using HP SkyRoom, Branson was able to speak live(1) at B4E without travelling to South Korea. With this videoconferencing tool, companies now have the power to change the economics of travel and reduce their carbon footprint while preserving the value of human interaction.

By using HP SkyRoom instead of making one round trip from London to Chicago, one person saves 3,000 pounds of emitted carbons into the environment. It would take 30 square kilometers (11.6 acres) of rain forest a full year to absorb all of this pollution.

HP SkyRoom is software that enables easy and affordable virtual meetings and encourages collaboration. It allows users to share ideas in real time and enjoy face-to-face communication with fully interactive 3-D graphics and high-definition (HD) video.

For decades HP has been an environmental leader, driving company stewardship through product design, reuse and recycling as well as energy and resource efficiency. HP influences industry action by setting high environmental standards in its operations and supply chain, by providing practical solutions to make it easier for customers to reduce their climate impact and through its research on sustainability solutions that support a low-carbon economy.
