HP today announced that HP StorageWorks P4000 SAN solutions have been awarded the Certificate of Networthiness (CoN) from the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command.

This accreditation ensures HP P4000 products meet strict U.S. Army and Department of Defense (DoD) standards for security, compatibility and sustainability.  This enables government departments to improve the capacity, efficiency and performance of storage area network (SAN) environments while remaining compliant with U.S. military IT standards.

The CoN is required for all enterprise software products in the Army Enterprise Infrastructure Network.  The certification also applies to all National Guard, Army Reserve and DoD organizations that use the Army Enterprise Infrastructure Network.

“Government departments can realize the benefits of flexible, cost-effective storage from HP,” said Tom Hempfield, vice president, U.S. Federal Business Organization, HP.  “The DoD certification recognizes HP storage solutions for their high scalability, manageability and security.”

The HP StorageWorks P4000 SAN solutions deliver virtualized pools of storage with software features such as thin provisioning that help clients quickly and efficiently match dynamic business changes.  The solution is a key building block in an HP Converged Infrastructure, which enables clients and government agencies to realign technology silos across server, storage and networking into a common technology environment without “ripping and replacing” the existing infrastructure.

HP P4000 SAN solutions minimize the complexity and costs of deploying a SAN in a virtualized infrastructure.  The technology allows clients to easily scale the capacity and performance of their storage infrastructure by adding more storage nodes to the network.  Clients have the flexibility to purchase only the capacity or performance needed and grow incrementally without disrupting operations.  This helps government agencies maximize technology investments and spread capital expenditures over time.

The HP P4000 SANs provide complete business continuity by providing hardware RAID capabilities that protect against disk drive failures and network RAID that protects against failure of an entire storage node.  This combination provides clients with cost-effective high availability and disaster recovery between multiple sites, eliminating the need to purchase multiple SANs.
